In a place long forgotten by men, Mother Nature took over and the spirits of the forest can be seen wandering around.

Abandonned

Spirits of the forest

A lighthouse, barely seen among the trees, scatters its light around, letting us see glimpses of what once must have been a beautiful place.

Lonely Watcher

But then you get struck by terrifying sights.

Cursed

Lonely witnesses of times past can be seen, turned into stone by some old curse. What happened here? What terrible events hide behind those images?

Fading away

Are you brave enough to go there and find out?

Last saturday I went to the “Show and Tell” which is held by Virtual Ability once a week. People share what they have found during the week, from experiences to funny things. Slatan Dryke showed us this gorgeous and unique top hat that look like a wooden house with chipmunks all over it. As I love funny and different things, I asked for the LM and off I went to the Mad Hattery store.

The slogan of the store is “a hat for your every occasion” and oh boy! how true that is. The store has a ton of amazing, inventive and funny hats, and at very good prices too. Of course I couldn’t resist and bought a couple from the boards and two from the gashas there.

However this is just not another store. Where can you find a store where there are bump cars you can rezz or an Intan to dance? Well the Mad Hattery has it, so grab a couple of friends and head there to a complete different shopping experience.

Oh! And there is a sale on Christmas hats until the 1st of December, so hurry hurry!

I use the CtrAlT Studio Viewer, which is apparently a lighter version of FireStorm with all the good FS features. Good thing is I only crash 2 times per session, instead of the usual 10 in FS lol.

However, when I logged in yesterday I was a beautiful cloud and, after waiting a couple of minutes without rezzing, decided to log out and clear cache, which I haven’t done for months.

When I logged back in, inventory was not loading so I sat on the balcony at home and fell asleep.

Sleeping

Finally inventory loaded and with new energy I headed to Frisland. After getting my backpack (free at landing point in men and women versions and 2 colours each) and hiring a bike I pedaled away to check the place.

Cycling

The sim is beautiful, full of little cozy corners and lots of new four-legged friends to meet. The foxes showed me the way to the waterfall and after hanging with them for a bit, I waved goodbye and went to check the rest of the island.

Peaceful living

When I was trying to head south, following the weathervane, I crashed, but I will return to Frisland to discover more hidden corners.

It has been a while since I wrote a post, but to tell you the truth I have been feeling kind of lame and haven’t logged in much into SL.

Last week one of my good friends in SL called me on my mobile (yeah I am that crazy, have virtual friends whom I speak with in RL :P) and asked me: “When are we going to Wonderland?”

All of a sudden it stroke me. I wasn’t logging in because I hadn’t anything to do. I have to always be involved in something or otherwise I get bored.

As usual, when me and my friends get together what starts with “lets throw a party” usually ends in building a complete scenery and associated with some photography exhibition at the Gallery. Chagal made this gorgeous dance floor and the garden walls, Flor had some great ideas and I took care of the landscaping. And Alice in Wonderland was born, squeezed in a 4096 sqm plot next to the gallery.

We tried to give it the magical ambiance of Lewis Carrol book. Drop by for a visit and if you want your pics on the theme displayed at my Gallery, please contact me inworld (notecard with your name please) during next week and I will provide all the information needed.

If you want to take a look at the place, go down the rabbit hole and enjoy your stay. Most of the pieces scattered are multipose, so bring your friends and have fun.

Down the rabbit hole

The place will be there forever, until we move to the next project. Party soon to be announced too.

“Alice: How long is forever?
Rabbit: Sometimes just a second!”

Antony Switchblade and Peace Edenflower build Imaginaria. According to their own words “This sim was a labor of love.  Love between two people.  Love that inspired us to imagine a perfect place at this moment in time to nurture it and let it grow.”

And you feel that love in every corner and every detail. The photos don’t translate well enough the wonderful and magical atmosphere of the island.

You have to see for yourselves and while there, snap along and enter the Photo contest running until December 31st. For that send the pics full perms to Antony Switchblade and/or Peace Edenflower or join their Flickr Group.

Just like I mentioned in my last post, I found another gem last monday when doing map-hopping – The Historical Rosemount Plantation.

Landing at the garden gate, you can immediately see the beautiful stone carvings on the walls and the amazing cast iron work on the gate itself.

Front gate

I usually take a look at the “About land” just in case the places have specific rules, like RP or dress codes, and here is what was written:

Historic Rosemount Plantation is a 19 room, 1832 Southern Antebellum plantation located in Forkland, Alabama and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places by the US Department of the Interior. Built by Ethan Westland as his home in SL.

Rosemount Manor

Curious as I am, I talked to my friend Google, who knows everything, and I got the wiki page of the plantation. The manor looks exactly like the real one and Mr. Ethan Westland has made a great job. I didn’t enter the house, since it was private, but I started walking down the road among beautiful trees dressed in red and orange.

Autumn path

At the end of the path there was this little chapel with amazing stained glass windows and near by a small graveyard, not a spooky one, no worries.

Rosemount Church

I was starting to get hungry and feeling a bit tired of all the walking so I went to the apple trees nearby and decided to call it out for the day with an apple and some rest.

Yesterday I was feeling like exploring so I decided to do some map hopping. I always find it very funny and some times I end up finding some gems.

After some “You’re not allowed to teleport to that destination”, some ban lines and quite badly decorated areas I found 2 great spots.

I will show you first the Lost Paradise of Natadola. A beautiful tropical island, with waterfalls, secluded cuddling spots and a beautiful underwater scenery for scuba diving or to bring out the mermaid inside you (or that mermaid tail in your inventory that hardly sees the underwater light 😉 )

Here are some pictures, but take your better half or explore alone. The place is really beautiful.

As for the other place, keep an eye here and will follow soon.

Although in my home town we are still having quite nice weather, with blue skies and warm Autumn sun, in Second Life the Winter scenes are again starting to emerge.

I really like snow and in RL I don’t have that many opportunities to see and feel it. Most of my friends, who endure snow for almost half of the year, tell me I am a lucky girl but I would love to have a white Christmas one of these years.

I saw Cait’s post in her blog and decided to gather my usual victims friends and headed to some fun in the snow at Izzie’s. And glad we did, not only the main store has great stuff but the place is beautifully landscaped.

So grab your winter gear and your pocket L$ and go and take a look. It will be worth your time.

According to Wikipedia “Burning Man is a week-long annual event held in the Black Rock Desert in northern Nevada, in the United States. The event begins on the last Monday in August, and ends on the first Monday in September, which coincides with the American Labour Day holiday. It takes its name from the ritual burning of a large wooden effigy, which is set alight on Saturday evening. The event is described as an experiment in community, art, radical self-expression, and radical self-reliance.”

In Second Life the “Burning Life” event started back in 2003, at the time with land sponsored by Linden Lab, although the residents wishing to participate had to pay L$ 1,600 for a 40×40 plot, being that amount refunded after the event was over. The following years a lottery was implemented and the plots granted had a 512sqm area.

Since then, every year we have been having a Burn event which has been following the themes of the RL Burning Man, starting in 2003 with just 2 sims and in 2007 we see the event spread across 18 islands.

In 2010, the name of the event was changed to Burn 2 and due to the huge downsizing at Linden Lab, the event started to be resident supported and LL stopped supplying the sims where the festivities took place.

The RL Burning Man organization was aware from the beginning of the virtual event and, from 2008 on, some of the actual RL Burning Man organizers were inworld to guide residents and assure that the spirit and principles would be the same in both worlds.

I have to confess that on previous years I was lagging so badly that I barely managed to see a couple of buildings and taking pictures was definitely not an option, so I just surfed the web looking for photos and machinima (check it out, there are really great ones) and kicked my computer for the lack of strength to handle lag.

This year things are a bit better and Gemma Cleanslate was a dear providing me with a bunch of LMs and off I went.

I was just there for half an hour or so but I leave you here some of the pictures I took, raw from SL, except for signature. More to come. I’ll keep you posted… well, not you the pics… ok, whatever, you know what I mean 😉

There is a lot to be seen and it will end Sunday so hurry hurry, click that TPbutton and wear your shoes off on the cracked sand of Burn.
